Chayn is

an award-winning, open-source project that leverages technology to empower women against violence and oppression so they can live happier and healthier lives. Running solely on the passion of more than 300 skilled volunteers from 13 countries, Chayn leverages technology to address the problems women face today in a dozen countries. Our resources are openly licensed so charities around the world can use, remix and distribute our work!

Our design principle: Design with, not for.

We’re proud to co-design resources with survivors of abuse from around the world.

p.s.  Chayn چین is an Urdu word and it means ‘solace / peace of mind’.

Here’s what we do…
TOOLKITS

From speaking to survivors of abuse, stalking & cyber bullying, we realised there are key gaps in available information for these most vulnerable social groups, irrespective of the country they live in. With the help of these survivors & field experts, we’ve built open source, collaborative guides that fill these gaps &, in doing so, give those in need higher ground to stand on, wherever in the world they may be.

PLATFORMS

1 in 3 women around the world face domestic violence. These platforms allow stressed women to easily navigate their options and exercise self-help, and its encouraging and friendly tone aims to reassure the women reading. Articles include advice addressing depression to details on divorce laws and escape plans. These are run by local chapters. We’ve got Pakistan, India, Italy so far & many more to come!

TECH FOR GOOD HACKATHONS

Hackathons are a great way to get a bunch of people from different backgrounds & skillsets in a room to use technology & solve a problem. As an organisation using technology for social innovation, we want to help other NGOs make use of this format. We also support teams after hackathons to iterate, pivot & accelerate product development.

DIGITAL SERVICES

1 in 3 women around the world face domestic violence. These platforms allow stressed and desperate women to easily navigate their options and exercise self-help, and its encouraging and friendly tone aims to reassure the women reading.
